Tonight I graduated to another level of motherhood.
I survived a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese.
Maddie's friend J turned 4 today, and to celebrate, invited 24 of her friends to eat pizza, cupcakes, and Sprite at the world's loudest play area—aka Chuck E. Cheese. It hasn't changed a whole lot since the last time I was there, which I believe was my sophomore year of high school. I have no idea why I would have been there when I was 16 when the average age of the clientele appears to be more in the 7 years old range, but I do remember being there that year. The big creepy larger-than-life mouse...doll? statue? live action figure? still sings songs, and there is still a salad bar. And lots of Very Loud Games Accompanied By Very Bright Lights.
Maddie had a blast, especially with the game in which you try to catch air-blown bees with a net, only the net is behind a glass window and you can only manipulate a few inches of the handle. She played Skee Ball, and made a number of scores in the adjoining lanes. And finally, we used one of our tokens to do this, which kind of makes it all worthwhile.
