1. It occurred to me as I was making potstickers on Sunday night that the desire to stuff food into some sort of dough/pastry concoction is pretty much universal. Ravioli, pierogues, pasties, empanadas, potstickers. Universal except for Maddie. She hates every single one of them.
2. At dinner (we also had shrimp fried rice) she did call her chopsticks chopsicles on accident. So I forgave her for hating every kind of wonderful stuffed dough/pastry food in the world.
3. I made the realization this week that Tiana from Princess and the Frog = Grace Makutsi from #1 Ladies Detective Agency, and then almost fell off my chair. I even saw the cover of USA Today Weekend a few weeks ago (the one with Anika Noni Rose on the cover) and it didn't click.
a.) She is a really, really good actress to trick me like that.
b.) I really, really want #1 Ladies Detective Agency to be renewed.
c.) It probably isn't going to be.
d.) Boo hoo.
I played Dinosaurs! with Gracie this afternoon. She kicked my rear. That is the hardest matching game I've ever played.
5. Only two more days until Project Runway returns!
6. I didn't plan on playing along in the 12 on 12 challenge (where you take 12 photos on the 12th day of the month) but then it was almost 60º outside today, and we wandered around for 45 minutes digging things out of snowdrifts and stomping in puddles, and I took 12+ pictures. So, maybe I'll play next month, and maybe I won't. We'll see.
Oh, the illusions of shadows : )
7. That's right, I said almost 60º. Don't worry, we'll be back to freezing cold in no time. I just hope it waits until the mountains of slush are gone everywhere.
8. I also didn't plan on adding any other projects for the year, but I just finished reading 52 Projects by Jeffrey Yamaguchi and I'm going to keep track of them in a photo album as I finish. I have two done. When I have ten, I'll make the album public; when I have 52, I might be 85. There won't be a time limit on this one.
9. Speaking of 85, if you only look at my hands you might mistake my age for that. THANK YOU SO MUCH, MAMA. (Just kidding.)(Sort of.)
10. Bridget is in the phase of potty-training where she is fascinated by restrooms, everywhere. Today, this meant three visits to public toilets. I have to keep my eye on the prize: the end of diapers after nearly 8 continuous years of them!
