It was a rainy, rainy day with no DSLR....
1. The dog and her person were not really all that excited about starting the dreary, gloomy day pre-7am with 41 degrees and rain. But walk we did.
2. Mean mama alert: only two of the three got a ride to school on this rainy day. Because I only had time to take two of them, I made the oldest catch her bus. MEAN. MAMA.
3. Please note that although my hanging baskets and geraniums nearly died because of CFD, I have brought them back to around 85%. Not bad, not bad. And if you saw them, you know they were looking pretty rough. They enjoyed the rain out back all day.
4. I have used an Apple email for so many years I can't count--maybe since 1998? 1999? I don't remember. For two days this week, my Apple email failed for the first time ever. I was not amused. Among many emails that came pouring in yesterday late was the email Matt forwarded me about how they found all sorts of unexploded ordnance in the empty lakebed and were preparing to blow it all up. (The same empty lakebed we traipsed around with the girls earlier in the year. Nice.) I didn't take the dog for a walk at the empty lakebed while my email was down, but if I had, well, that's just NOT COOL, Apple. (Please fix that, whatever it was)
5. Meeting #1: Our Place, a shop I do design work for in town. Post meeting: a quick look in the warehouse, where I spotted these nearly perfect vintage orange/charcoal/black lockers. MINE. Plus two desks that will be perfect refinishing projects. Do you know how much nearly perfect vintage lockers go for? Many hundreds of dollars. I won't tell you how much I paid for them, because you will be mad at me : )
6. Meeting #2: The library, where I am sort of employed on a very flexible schedule for 8 weeks as the Discover Earth! exhibit tour coordinator for the library/school district/private schools in the area. I know, that's kind of funny, huh? Me getting paid indirectly by the National Science Foundation? Hee.
7. Meeting #2 detail: I can't resist sneaking a shot of chocolate and sunflowers together no matter where I find them.
8. Meeting #3: Mr. Hibachi, with Matt. We like eating here because we can be in and out in under 50 minutes, and the buffet/sushi is very good. We yearn to suggest different background music, but you have to pick your battles. And no, he does not choose to text. He is one of the .05% of the world who has no choice. Nuclear missiles and whatnot.
9. Gracie fell asleep on the way home from school. Four kids ran over to tell me she was on the bus sleeping, so I finally said "Can someone please go tap her before the bus pulls away??!" The novelty of seeing someone sleeping on the bus overpowered the common sense of waking said person up. They love school, but Dillows simply cannot fight the urge to sleep when it hits them. Here Deb will note I fell asleep for approximately 13 minutes in the stands during afternoon rodeo this summer. Ahem.
10. Bee and I hang out in the car for 20 minutes on Wednesdays, as M & G must be there at 530 and she doesn't have to be there until 6. We listen to NPR, look at catalogs, talk about school, read books, play WordGirl or Words with Friends on the phone if we aren't stuck in the deadest cell phone coverage area in all of Cheyenne (strangely, right outside gymnastics), draw, take pictures in the rearview mirror.
11. I raced over to Sam's Club to buy more food (I can't keep up now that school has started again) and decided to buy these made-up things. I've had one and they're surprisingly good, but Matt, Maddie, and Gracie have eaten almost 15 of them combined since last night. Apparently their bodies needed whatever vitamins are present in made-up fruit.
12. Long day = rewarded with our last catch-up episode of Project Runway, Season 10. We've never missed an episode in ten years until this summer, when PR started during CFD. But we're caught up now, so we can make our predictions! Maybe after tonight : )
