So much of Wyoming looks like this now—big brown dead trees. The pine bark beetle is killing off forests left and right here; 100,000 trees are falling every day. It didn't stay cold enough long enough to kill them off again this winter—it's something like 14 consecutive days of sub-zero weather to do them in, and while it was plenty cold much of the time, it wasn't cold enough for enough days in a row.
