I'm cleaning out cabinets and cupboards and drawers and closets in preparation for the great moving adventure that hits us like a brick wall next week.
I hate to get rid of spices—Matt has an extensive spice collection, and they're just so expensive to replace in one fell swoop after a move. Something tells me that some of our spices are probably past their healthy, tasty shelf life so I decided to check out the McCormick site to see how long you can keep them. I was guessing they'd say six months... you know, to make sure you keep buying more. Well. I was pleasantly surprised to see some are good for as long as four years, some a little less. Then I saw their handy little "see how old your spices are game" on the sidebar. Hmm. This could be fun.
AND UTTERLY HORRIFYING.
We have some old spices. I am OK with a year or two past their shelf life. I am not OK with eight or nine or ten years past their shelf life. Eeek. We may have only a handful of spices left when I am done here.
