I've been tagged. I knew something was up when the little stat counter in Typepad showed about a 400% increase in traffic today. : ) Thanks, Stacy—I, too, am glad that I didn't have to come up with four random facts about myself today!
This is an easy game to play: dig out the fourth photo in your fourth photo folder. I had to talk myself out of deciding if that meant fourth photo/fourth folder EVER, or fourth photo/fourth folder since iPhoto, or fourth photo/fourth folder in Aperture. Then, when I decided Aperture was fine (vs. the beginning of time), I realized that in Aperture, my folders are alphabetized by what I name them, and not by chronological order.
And then I decided I have a list of 8200 things to do right now, and I don't need to be arguing semantics tonight. So....
I've posted a picture from this California adventure before, but apparently it was the 5th picture in this particular folder (which, by the way, is the alphabetized fourth folder, not the actual fourth folder. Not that anyone cares.) This is the interior of the beautiful little store named Magpie, where Katherine looks highly annoyed by the pleasant cashier but I can assure you was not the case. Bad lighting or something. : ) This trip seems like ages ago to me (and I'm certain to Katherine, too) because I was pregnant with Bridget, and Juliette didn't exist in any form yet. I was in Anaheim for CHA, living in The Twilight Zone Mountain House, CA, and working on the book. Even though I can technically still say it was just last year (January 2007) it sure feels like longer than that.
In the spirit of good tagging etiquette, I'll invite the following people to play along:
My mama called me this morning with BIG NEWS: tonight ABC Family, a station I only vaguely know about, is running the premiere of a half-hour Christmas special: CRANBERRY CHRISTMAS. Quick—if you were born in the 1970s, shake your head a few times to get rid of the dust. It will come back. It took me a minute to remember, but then all of a sudden it all came back:
Cranberryport? Maggie? Her Grandma? Cyrus Grape? MR. WHISKERS?? The books (all the major holidays were celebrated in Cranberryport) are out of print and as far as I can tell from a quick search, pretty collectible right now. Oh my goodness, I'm going to be in 1970s sentimental heaven, with Maddie and Gracie as my guests. It's so hard for them to defend themselves against the 70s.
Tonight. 7:30 pm. ABC Family. Produced/sponsored by Ocean Spray.
And, just to sweeten the deal, here is the recipe for Maggie's cranberry cookies:
OATMEAL CRANBERRY WHITE CHOCOLATE CHUNK COOKIES
2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened 2/3 cup brown sugar 2 large eggs 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats 1 1/2 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 6-ounce package Ocean Spray® Craisins® Original Sweetened Dried Cranberries 2/3 cup white chocolate chunks or chips
DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Using an electric mixer, beat butter or margarine and sugar together in a
medium mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs, mixing well. Combine
oats, flour, baking soda and salt in a separate mixing bowl.
Add to butter mixture in several additions, mixing well after each
addition. Stir in sweetened dried cranberries and white chocolate chunks.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 10-12
minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack.
I finally came across this photo I'd been looking for when I hosted the Simple Studio blog in October. They just don't make Halloween costumes like this anymore! The pants were mine. I see I get my fall gardening skills from my mama. What's more Halloween-y than a flower bed full of dead flowers? My point exactly.
