First the Inauguration, then a party at the Ritz-Carlton... it sounds like a glamorous life here in DC-land, but let me assure you it's back to the bus stop and gymnastics and Target and scrambling to find all our library books to return next week and pretending not to mope about the demise of Simple, with nary an "event" on the calendar. But it was fun to celebrate Matt's recent inclusion on the promotion-to-Lt-Col-list at one of the glitziest hotels around yesterday afternoon. When we were first married Lt Cols seemed so... ahem... old to me. Heh.
Matt and my dad; there is a longstanding tradition to clearly identify the honored guests. It was, indeed, easy to identify the honored guests. : )
Grandpa and Grandma; they don't get to secretly accuse us of being the boring place to visit anymore.
Maddie was thrilled Georgie (and Thea, Sam, Deb, and Greg) were there too (and yes, Greg was also easy to identify!)
I'm crossing my fingers that the Karahalises will be assigned in Colorado Springs after they leave here eventually, because then Deb and I can establish Denver as the meet-in-the-middle spot. Not as good as Duke St., but far better than Bakersfield, CA.
On our way home... we originally had planned to leave Bridget at Jill's house, but since the other two were coming we started to feel terribly guilty about not bringing Bee, too. She loved dressing up in a dress with her new ladybug shoes; she held our hands when she was supposed to and charmed the hotel staff with her dressed up little toddle-walk.
And so ends our week of high adventure : )
