Katherine posted the Paste 50 Best Albums of the Last Decade list today, with the albums she and Ben own in bold. I am a sucker for lists and even better, checklists, and even more than that, restrospective checklists, so I have to post it too. We are big fans of Paste in this house; between that and Morning Music on Wyoming Public Radio (the best music show I've ever heard, period) we are resisting as best we can the curse of having our music collection come to a screeching halt at say, 1999 or something. There is always something new and wonderful to hear.

23/50. Not bad, but not great. Looks like we have some work to do on iTunes over the next few years!
Observations:
+ I wouldn't know Arcade Fire if they hit me in the face. Really? Two spots?
+ Try as we might, we don't really like Radiohead. Too low a cool factor, perhaps.
+ We own a good deal of Spoon, but not the one on the list.
+ I could have sworn we owned the Once soundtrack, but apparently not. Huh.
+ Kanye West: Probably never. Sorry.
+ I love Paste, but there are some major omissions on this list, if you ask me. Maybe I'm biased, but what about Ben Folds? Ray Lamontagne? Pete Yorn? The Black Keys? Aimee Mann? Mark Knopfler? Weezer? Elliott Smith? It seems like a bit of sacrilege to not include Elliott Smith on a best of the decade list. Good Will Hunting was 20th Century, but Figure 8 was an album of 2000. Or anything since. Ah well.
I love year-end/decade-end/century-end lists! And music. Especially music.
