I was thinking about Amy Sorensen's great post about books...
Me: Did you have a lot of books of your own growing up?
Matt: Yep. I had a green bookcase, that was square, with my books on the bottom two shelves and my record player on top.
Maddie: What's a record player?
Matt: You don't know what a record is?
Gracie: I know! It's like when you break something, like when you drink from a cup with 100 straws!
[go ahead, old man, tell them about rotary phones, too, while you're at it...]
These are such 21st century children we're raising.
p.s. The first record I ever owned was Shaun Cassidy's single version of Do You Believe in Magic that I got as a favor at my friend Kenna's birthday party in 1978.
