Even though we still didn't make it to a proper pumpkin patch this year due to moving and illness, we did make it to Grant Farms (a local plant nursery place) to pick up three pumpkins on Friday since the girls had the day off for conferences.
Not more than an hour after I set the pumpkins on the porch to wait for carving, a big nasty squirrel was sitting on top of one tearing giant holes into it (evidence to follow). Apparently, the base is infested with Squirrelzillas this year, all with voracious appetites for pumpkin (and especially carefully carved ones). Everyone had truly scary ripped apart pumpkins left. Hmph. I saved ours from total destruction in time and brought them inside until Saturday night, when we went to work.
