I had two very emotional moments during the swearing-in part: the couple in front of us had two daughters with them, maybe 12 and 9 (which, by the way, would be the absolute youngest I would consider taking to this kind of thing) and right before President Obama was sworn in, they handed the camera to the youngest daughter, held her up, and let her take the picture.
After the oath, the man with the brown hat and yellow/red stripe and I happened to catch each other's eye, tears welling up for both of us. He smiled, and I smiled, we both nodded, and then we went back to looking around the crowd. It was a perfect exchange between strangers.
