So how did I get tickets to the Inauguration?
I asked for them. Back in November after Barack Obama won the election, Kattie (my friend since middle school, known here on this blog as the croup-healer/Avon Walker) hatched a plan to visit with her family and attend the Inauguration. We both requested tickets from our House representatives. Since I am officially still a Wyoming resident (long story) I thought I might actually have a chance, because there aren't that many people who live in Wyoming, and probably very few who were actually planning to come all the way to Washington, D.C. to attend. But then weeks and weeks went past without hearing anything back at all, so I figured I was out of luck.
But surprise! Just nine days before the big event, I got a phone call (actually during when I was posting about my funny Wyoming t-shirts, so I was momentarily freaked out by the Wyoming number on caller ID as if someone had been watching me) offering me four tickets. Rep. Barbara Cubin didn't run for re-election, so the tickets were being handed out by new House Rep. Cynthia Lummis, the only representative from the state of Wyoming. She was sworn in the first week of January.
It wasn't possible (or advisable) for Kattie to bring her family, so she made plans to fly in from Charlotte by herself, and my parents accepted the offer to use the other two tickets. Matt was happy to stay home with the girls and watch comfortably in the heated house.
