The Morning Of

The Morning Of

We set our alarms for 4:59 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Actually, I gave my alarm to my mom, because at 4:59 a.m. I am likely to let the alarm breep-breep indefinitely. Kattie stood at my bedroom door and politely said "Elizabeth!" about five times until she started to say it more pointedly and in a louder whisper. I'm just not really a morning person.

We were very, very prepared for the day; snacks, maps, walking directions, bus routes, meeting spot, lots of layers, phones, little cameras, foot warmers, hand warmers, and a special batch of Inauguration chocolate-covered pretzels made the night before. Kattie is shown here with 97 lbs of extra clothing on, because while she grew up in Ohio, she's lived in Charlotte for a long time now.
